Services were today in Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton with the Revs. Paul Sumner and Gary Cadwell officiating. Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery with Mike Gibbs, Chris Gibbs, Van Belflower, Phillip Belflower, Kevin Belflower, and Jeff Hawk as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Grady Thompson Sr., Gerald Sumner, Danny Thompson, Cleo Stone, Bobby Stone, Larry Stone, Falcon Haman, Pinkney Crisp, Red Bassett, Lynwood Sumner and Murray Montgomery. Born May 31, 1908, in Tift County, he was the son of the late William J. and Sarah Griffin Howell. A member and deacon of Eldorado Baptist Church, he was a retired farmer. He had lived in Tift County most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Sumner Howell of Eldorado; three daughters, Betty McCall, Rhudene Hayes, and Sarah Gibbs, all of Tifton; a brother, Ralph Howell of Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Alice Sumner of Rockledge, Fla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother. Additional Comments: William Ira Howell was born 5-31-1908 and died 8-6-1988 (GA DC# 030807) and is buried at Oakridge Cemetery in Tift County. His wife, Jessie Pauline Sumner Howell and his parents, William Jefferson "Bud" Howell and Sarah Jane Griffin Howell, are also buried there.
