     Lawrence P. Sewell of 861 Sumner Ave., North Charleston, a retired 

supervisor with Mobil Chemical Co., died Saturday in a local hospital.

     The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Stuhr's North Area Chapel.  

Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

     Mr. Sewell was born April 7, 1914, in Tift County, Ga., a son of John N. 

Sewell and Mimie South Sewell.  He was a Baptist.

     Surviving are his wife, Emery Teagle Sewell; a daughter, Shirley Roberts 

of Buffalo, N.Y.; five sons, Robert L. Sewell of North Charleston, Norman L. 

Sewell and Willie P. Sewell, both of Goose Creek, Johnny Sewell of St. Louis, 

Mo., and Brendel W. Sewell of Sanford, Fla.; four sisters, Faith McLemore, 

Amilee Reed and Maxine Murry, all of Cordele, Ga., and Bessie Basiel of 

Stiger, Ill.; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Preston Sewell married Emory Louise Teagle of Wilcox Co., GA on 20 

August 1932.
