February 17, 1922 __________ MEMORIAL TO MR. H. H. TIFT IS BEING DISCUSSED IN TIFTON Tifton, Ga., Feb. 17. - - There is a strong sentiment in favor of a memorial of some kind at Tifton to H. H. Tift, it's father and founder. Personally, Mr. Tift did not favor monuments, thinking that such money should be spent in service to mankind and it is very probably that the memorial here will take the form of some educational or benevolent enter- prise: Just what form is now being discussed. ___________ NEW TREASURER FOR A. & M. SCHOOL ELECTED LAST NIGHT Tifton, Ga. Feb. 17. -- Mr. B. Y. Wallace was elected Treasurer, of the Second District A. & M. School to fill the un-expired term of H. H. Tifton, deceased, at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees last night. The term expires with the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees on Comm- encement Day at A. M. S., in May, 1922. Since Mr. Tift's death, the board has been without a treasurer and there was no one to receive or disburse the funds. Mr. Tift had been treasurer of the board since the day of its organization, and for the past several years had served also as president. Mr. E. E. Phillips who was appointed by the Governor to the vacancy on the board caused by the death of Mr. Tift, was present at the meeting of the Executive Committee, and was elected chairman.
