COPELAND, PERRY posted by Linda Stringer on Thursday, December 24, 1998

Seeking contact with fellow researchers of the COPELAND families who were in the Tifton vicinity pre-civil war. Some of the COPELAND relatives were in Earley Co. GA as well. My ancestor, Roburtus M. COPELAND b. 1826 married Sara W. PERRY b. 1832 GA. They had children born in GA, AL, TX (they went to Gonzales Co. TX after the civil war where family members already were.) The names Roburtus, Lula, Mae and Fletcher were passed down liberally through following generations. Their known children were: John b. GA, William Alford b. AL, Richard Marcus B. 12 Nov 1853 AL, Cornelia b. GA, Earley W. b. GA, Connie b. GA, Roburtus Mansfield b. GA, Lula b. GA, Mattie (f) b. GA, Gustavus b. (GA or TX), Kenneth Cantley b. TX. Family oral history is that both families were wealthy prior to the CSA. Sarah used to tell her children that if she could take them back to GA. they could see her mother, buried in a glass coffin. I am newly online, all tips/suggestions appreciated.
